By accessing or using Aion ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users.
Aion is a time-locked encrypted messaging service. You can write a message, choose a future date, and seal it so that it becomes readable only on or after that date.
Messages are encrypted in your browser before they are sent to our servers. We cannot read your messages, modify them, or deliver them before the unlock date. This is a technical guarantee, not a policy one.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Aion. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent.
You sign in using your Google account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share access to your account with others.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
You agree not to use Aion to:
You retain ownership of the content you submit. By sealing a message through Aion, you grant us a limited licence to store and process the encrypted bytes solely for the purpose of delivering it on the unlock date.
You are solely responsible for the content of your messages. We do not moderate message content because we cannot read it. This means that if you seal illegal content, you bear full responsibility.
The Aion name, logo, design, and service are our property. The underlying cryptographic software is open source — you can review, audit, and contribute to the code on our GitHub repository.
You may not use our name, logo, or branding without our prior written permission.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes that affect messages already sealed in the system.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
